Our
beliefs
Next Surface was founded by a group of engineers and craftsmen who believe that a great company begins by offering the best possible product.
The process behind our stair treads grew from extensive experience laminating trims and profiles for the window, door, and flooring industries. Over the course of more than ten years, that knowledge was tested, refined, and developed into the manufacturing process we use today.
Our team brings together hundreds of years of combined manufacturing experience, all rooted in Ohio. That depth of knowledge allows us to approach every product with an engineer’s attention to performance and a craftsman’s commitment to detail.
Our
history
1999
Founder Rhine Blake began his career in quality management with Zenith’s cabinet division and later KraftMaid Cabinetry. That experience shaped his belief that successful products begin with disciplined processes, consistent quality, and close attention to detail.
2002
Rhine went on to establish and lead several manufacturing businesses serving the kitchen and bath cabinet industry. He founded Grand Valley Door Company in 2002, followed by Dimension Moldings, Inc. two years later.
2005
Both companies were sold to Woodcraft Industries, Inc. in 2005 and later became part of Quanex Building Products.
2009
Rhine founded Next Dimension Components, Inc., a custom profile wrapping and lamination company serving the window, door, and wood-component industries. As the company grew, he identified an opportunity to apply its manufacturing and lamination expertise to the flooring market. This expansion introduced new capabilities, including precision color matching, digital printing, protective coatings, and product development.
2019
Next Surface was established within Next Dimension Components to bring these capabilities to the flooring industry, developing stair treads and accessories designed to coordinate with manufacturers’ flooring collections.
2023
Next Dimension Components was sold and became Next Dimension–Stealth, LLC. Rhine continues to oversee the company’s operations while leading the growth of Next Surface as a separate company.
2026
Today, Next Surface partners with flooring manufacturers and other industry professionals to develop stair treads, risers, transitions, and finishing accessories that coordinate in both appearance and performance.
A Tradition of Manufacturing Excellence
Next Surface’s manufacturing heritage can be traced to Next Dimension Components Inc., a custom profile wrapping and lamination company led by Chief Executive Officer Rhine Blake.
With nearly 35 years of manufacturing experience, Rhine has built his career around developing reliable processes, investing in advanced equipment, and creating products that meet demanding standards for quality and consistency.
That experience in wrapping and laminating interior and exterior profiles laid the foundation for Next Surface. It gave our team a deep understanding of materials, adhesives, production systems, surface finishes, and the challenges involved in creating components that are both durable and visually precise.
Skilled Ohio Craftsmanship
Our products are made with the support of a highly skilled Amish workforce known for precision, consistency, and pride in workmanship.
Our craftsmen are cross-trained across a variety of machines, equipment, and manufacturing processes. This versatility helps maintain quality throughout production and gives our team the flexibility to respond to the specific needs of each customer.
Every component is made with close attention to detail. The goal is not simply to meet an acceptable standard, but to produce work that is free of defects and establishes a higher benchmark for the industry.
