Color Matching Process

Color Matching Process

Every custom color match begins with your flooring sample. Our process is designed to capture and reproduce its color and visual characteristics.

1

Image Development

Every project begins with your flooring sample. We digitally scan the flooring, carefully arrange and stitch the images together to create a master image with a natural-looking pattern that minimizes visible repetition from one stair tread to the next. This master image becomes the foundation for color development.

2

Color Development

Using the master image, our color specialists develop and refine the color to match the original flooring sample. Every match is evaluated in a controlled light booth under multiple standardized light sources to ensure the color remains true in different lighting conditions before advancing to customer approval.

3

Color Approval

Printed film samples are provided to your team for evaluation and approval. If revisions are requested, we work together to understand the feedback, refine the color, and produce updated samples. This collaborative process continues until the color match is approved. Once approved, both Next Surface and the customer retain signed reference samples to ensure consistency throughout future production.

4

Digital Printing

Following customer approval, the finalized design is digitally printed onto specialty film. Our digital printing process accurately reproduces the approved image and color ensuring consistency from the approved sample through full-scale production.

5

Commerical-Grade Finish

Following digital printing, a hot coat, UV top coat, and embossed texture are applied to the printed film in a single in-line process. Together, they create a durable wear surface that provides scratch, scuff, and water resistance. The embossed texture enhances the natural wood appearance while improving slip resistance.

6

Quality Verification

Every production run is inspected against the approved reference standard to verify color, finish, and overall quality, ensuring the finished product consistently meets customer expectations.
